ABOUT REMARQUE
Since its founding in 1997, Remarque’s partners have assumed leadership positions in national and regional organizations at the highest levels, including participation in the International Trademark Association (INTA), the California Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section, California Bar Intellectual Property and Business Law Sections, Western Growers Association, Growers Shippers Association, National Docketing Association, National Notary Association and the American Bar Association. On the community level, they support Leadership Monterey Peninsula and The Action Council of Monterey through service as members of the boards of directors.
ABOUT OUR NAME
In the world of fine art, a remarque is a small, personalized drawing or symbol that an artist adds on a print, typically near the signature of the original work. The presence of a remarque makes a print unique and adds an element of authenticity, thereby increasing its value.
Our goal at Remarque has always been to increase the value of our clients’ IP portfolios, by attending to the fine details, delivering highly personalized services, and adding value at every turn.
Meet The Team
DAVE LARIVIERE
Principal
Dave got his professional start in project engineering for commercial, industrial and aerospace firms, and with a deep knowledge of a rapidly growing industry, he recognized an opportunity to pursue a career in patent law. This career took him to Hewlett-Packard Company, where he worked as Managing Attorney alongside IP paralegal Evelyn Martin, and on to roles at IBM Corporation, IP management firm Davis & Schroeder, P.C., and eventually to a position as founding partner of his own IP firm, LaRiviere, Grubman & Payne, LLP. Together, he and Evelyn Martin founded Remarque, and he oversees technical and legal aspects of the business. Dave maintains his membership in the California State Bar, the Washington State Bar, the Washington D.C. Bar, and license to practice before the US Patent & Trademark Office.
Evelyn Martin
Principal
Evelyn began her career as a legal secretary to patent groups at Hewlett- Packard Company, which happened to include a young engineer and patent attorney named Dave LaRivera. Later, after roles as a legal administrator for National Semiconductor Corp. and a patent administrator for Advanced Micro Devices, Evelyn rejoined Dave as Docketing Manager at the IP law firm of LaRiviere, Grubman and Payne, LLC. They co-founded Remarque in 1997, and Evelyn manages daily operations. Evelyn maintains her membership in the IP Section of the California State Bar, and American Bar Association, National Notary Association and National Docketing Association.
